Informazioni Cave World Map 🕳️

Cave World Map marks cave entrances around the world — show caves with lit walkways, wild systems known to cavers, and the dark openings in a hillside that most maps ignore.

Entrances are drawn from OpenStreetMap's `natural=cave_entrance` tag and added by cavers and locals. Caving can be dangerous: this map only shows where an entrance is, never that it's safe to enter — go with the right people, gear and permission.

Cave World Map è creato e mantenuto da Emil Björk, sviluppatore indipendente con base in Svezia. Il sito nasce dalla passione per mappe, viaggi e dati aperti; professionalmente viene dalla consulenza informatica.

Come funziona

Every point is fetched from the OpenStreetMap Overpass API, deduplicated, tagged by country and stored as a static GeoJSON file — no database, instant to load. Click any point to see a description from Wikipedia, a photo from Wikimedia Commons (or Mapillary as a fallback) and, where available, its Google rating.

Aggiornamento dei dati

The dataset is automatically refreshed once a month from OpenStreetMap via a scheduled GitHub Action, so the map stays current as the world is mapped.
